Atelier Kaplan is a multidisciplinary textile design studio that blends artisanal craftsmanship with applied design. We collaborate with designers who value custom, thoughtfully crafted textile solutions.
Hand dyeing/painting, gold leaf embellishment, and textile manipulation are just a few techniques that our atelier offers. Applications can be seen in interior décor, fashion and for any project that is in need of elevation through expert pattern design and craftsmanship.
The COCOON Lampshade – In collaboration with Cornelia Laufer, Atelier Kaplan developed a special series of lamps in which Laufer designed the bases and Atelier Kaplan created bespoke lampshades.
Named Cocoon, the series reflects the way each shade gently envelops the lamp form, enclosing it seamlessly without the use of glue or stitching. Through a meticulous hand-felting process, Atelier Kaplan combines silk and merino wool to create a tactile surface that conveys depth and warmth. When illuminated, the shades emit a soft, luminous glow that enhances the richness and texture of the material.
Cocoon
We collaborate closely with clients and designers to source fabrics and create hand-embellished custom textiles for bespoke products. These are used across a range of interior décor applications, including drapery, curtain trims, cushions, lampshades, and other decorative furnishings.
Interior
Collaborating with fashion designers, Atelier Kaplan applies its artisanal handwork techniques to create truly unique couture looks. Our expertise spans custom embellishments, hand-felted textiles, hand-dyed and hand-painted garments, and bespoke surface treatments, resulting in distinctive pieces that reflect each designer's creative direction.
